MAJOR OEM AWARDS TRANSMISSION GEARS TO BODYCOTE MEXICO
MACCLESFIELD (U.K.) – Bodycote is pleased to announce that a major OEM has awarded a next generation of transmission gears to Bodycote Mexico for heat treatment and surface enhancement processes.
The family of gears includes sun gears, pinion gears and annulus gears. Bodycote will use various surface technologies to improve the performance of the transmission gears including low pressure vacuum carburizing with high speed gas quenching, partial pressure nitride and precision shot peening.
In addition, a state-of-the-art gear measurement laboratory will quantify dimensional movement during process development and long-term production. Bodycote is making significant investment in Mexico to support this new project. Bodycote was selected for the program because of its extensive experience with low distortion heat treatments and a strong reputation as a critical automotive supplier in the United States and around the world.
