We are taking direct action to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and to lead by example. In 2024, we reinforced this commitment by setting new environmental commitments aimed at decarbonising our activities and optimising our activities.
New leadership targets
In 2024, we launched new environmental leadership targets, including a 46% reduction in our Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, enabling customers to avoid 125,000 tonnes of CO2e, and increasing revenue from sustainable applications to 20% by 2035. Additionally, we established robust Scope 3 emissions reduction goals, targeting a 45% reduction in fuel and energy-related emissions and for 30% of our suppliers to have set their own carbon reduction targets by 2030. Read more about our decarbonisation focus.
Driving energy efficiency
Energy efficiency remains a core priority for our business. In 2023, we implemented a multi-year programme to optimise energy use through operational improvements such as increased furnace capacity, enhanced heat treatment cycles, and upgrading our furnace insulation and process gas equipment. We also introduced a KPI to track our renewable energy use, with 27% of our electricity sourced from renewables in 2024.
Circular solutions
To minimise resource consumption, we take proactive steps in water and waste management. Despite limited water usage across our processes, we aim to reduce water waste through initiatives like installing closed-loop adiabatic cooling systems.
In 2024, we generated 11,626 tonnes of waste, of which 3,677 tonnes were hazardous. We are also dedicated to improving waste segregation and recycling while working to reduce both our water consumption and wider environmental impact.
