Measure and report your product carbon footprint with confidence
Customers can now request carbon-footprint data for the heat treatment of their products, from a Bureau Veritas-validated calculator tool, with the confidence that the methodology and tool used has been independently assured and calculations follow recognised best practice.
The technical complexity inherent in thermal processing means that process-level emission calculations have historically presented a significant challenge. With proprietary product carbon footprint (PCF) calculators now available across nine of Bodycote’s core processes – based on corporate PCF methodology compliant with ISO 14067:2018 – this represents one of the most comprehensive carbon-footprint validation initiatives ever undertaken in the thermal-processing industry, giving our customers confidence to:
- Measure and report product carbon footprints with confidence
- Compare the carbon performance of different thermal-processing routes
- Select lower-carbon options, e.g., vacuum processing or low-pressure carburising (LPC).
Bureau Veritas is a world leader in inspection, certification, and laboratory testing services. Bodycote engaged Bureau Veritas to provide independent validation of Bodycote’s Product Carbon Footprint tool to a limited level of assurance across nine heat treatment processes, including atmospheric carburising, vacuum, gas nitriding, plasma nitriding, continuous furnace, induction hardening, low pressure carburising (LPC), hot isostatic pressing (HIP) and Powdermet®.
