Bodycote Thermal Processing’s new plant in Silao, Mexico, officially opened its doors last week following a grand opening ceremony.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Bodycote personnel plus officials and government representatives from the State of Guanajuato including the governor, Lic. Juan Manuel Oliva Ramirez, who, during the ceremony, proposed a future relationship between Bodycote and Guanajuato’s National Polytechnic Institute.
Martyn Wilton, President of Bodycote Thermal Processing Americas, commented: “In North America we operate in most of the states where manufacturing industry exists. Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina are countries where we are growing and developing.”
The Silao plant, which will be managed by Francisco Granados, will create 50 new jobs for the local area and will primarily provide heat treatment for the automotive and aerospace industries. The automotive and auto-parts sectors in the state of Guanajuato comprise of 295 companies and 23 thousand jobs – 38% of the manufacturing sector.
Martyn Wilton added: “Establishing the plant at Silao is just the first step, the next step is establishing relationships. Long-term partnerships with our customers allow us to better understand their needs; working together enables efficiency and the development of new ideas.”
