Bodycote’s Huntington Park facility has provided heat treating services to the aerospace, defense and energy industries since 1945. In order to expand its services for customers, the facility has recently completed numerous upgrades to its nitriding, vacuum, and non-destructive testing capabilities.
Following the successful commissioning of two automated control gas nitride furnaces, which are compliant to AMS 2759/10, the facility can offer automated nitriding capacity up to 78” in length and the availability of 32,000 processing hours per year. Automated nitriding control systems provide precise control of nitriding potential and case depth, thus ensuring process cycle repeatability.
To compliment this extended nitriding capability, the addition of bronze plating for superior stop-off masking has been incorporated into the existing copper plating lines. Huntington Park has also upgraded its vacuum processing capability with the addition of two gas quench turbo treaters and paperless automated control systems. The vacuum, oil and gas quench processing capacity has increased by 40%.
To provide additional capability for protective atmosphere-aging of high alloy and titanium components, two innovative inert-atmosphere furnaces have also been installed.
In line with Bodycote’s continuing commitment to quality, a Nadcap accredited non-destructive testing department has been established at Huntington Park. This NDT facility provides magnetic particle inspection, florescent penetrant inspection, and nital etch to compliment the case hardening and metal processing operations.
